How it works

We already meet these people every day. Now we hand them a skill.

The hardest part of any programme is reaching people. We don't have that problem — thousands come through our food points each week. The academy meets them exactly where they are.

1

Sign up where you eat

A QR code and a friendly volunteer at our food points. A two-minute chat, a name on the list. No forms, no barriers.

2

Learn from your phone

Short video lessons you watch anytime, one live online class a week, and a group chat for support. Everything works on a phone.

3

Make real work & earn

By week six you've built a portfolio, entered our Challenge, and taken first steps toward volunteering, freelance gigs or a placement.

🤝
Digital inclusion built in.

If you have no phone, no data or nowhere quiet to work, we provide a tablet and a SIM with internet for the length of the course. Nobody is left out because of what they don't own.

The programme

Six weeks, from first tap to finished portfolio

Designed for people with no background in tech or design. Every week is practical, forgiving, and built around a phone.

W0
Getting set up

Onboarding & devices

Meet your group, receive a tablet & SIM if you need one, and make your very first AI image together. A gentle, welcoming start.

W1
Week one

AI images & posters

Turn words into pictures. Create a poster, a portrait, a scene — and understand how to guide the tools with good prompts.

W2
Week two

Short video & motion

Make a 15–30 second clip on your phone: cuts, captions, music. The format that pays on social platforms today.

W3
Week three

Voice, audio & narration

Add voiceover and sound. Tell your own story, or a client's, in a way that holds attention.

W4
Week four

Brand & storytelling

Bring it together into a look and a message. Build a small brand kit for yourself or a local cause.

W5
Week five

Your first real project

A brief that matters — for a charity, a small business, or your own idea. Mentored, start to finish.

Week six

Showcase Day

An in-person celebration at a Food For All venue: work on the wall, Challenge awards, photos, and next-step introductions. Pizza included.

Learner work

This is where our graduates' work will live

Every piece below will be replaced with real creations from the people in the room — made on a phone, in six weeks, starting from zero.

What you walk away with

More than a certificate

🎒

A real portfolio

A set of images, a video and a project you made yourself — proof of what you can do, on your phone.

💷

A first route to income

The skills small businesses and causes pay for today, plus introductions to first paid work.

🌱

Confidence & belonging

A group that has your back, a reason to show up, and a place inside Food For All beyond the meal queue.

Made possible with

Partners & supporters

The academy runs on the generosity of funders, tech partners and local businesses who believe skills change lives.

⚠️ Placeholder slots. Add a partner's logo only with their written permission — including any grant funder, which is added after an award is confirmed.

💛 Your place at our table never depends on this. Joining, leaving or skipping the academy has zero effect on your access to food or any other support. This is an opportunity, never a condition.
